The original Morrow brothers who began Morrow Brothers Ford were Charles Nota and Verbal Arthur Morrow. They owned farmland and a general store in Athensville Illinois. When they applied for a Ford Franchise they were told that Athensville was too small, so they requested a franchise for Greenfield, Illinois which was approved. They opened that dealership in 1915.
Eventually the brothers split up with Verbal taking the farms and Nota taking the general store and the Ford dealership. Later Glenn Wallace Morrow, Nota’s son, took over the dealership. Nota is the one who owned and raced the Model T Racer.
In 1958 two of Glenn’s sons, Richard Lee and Andrew Russell Morrow took over the dealership after the death of their fathers.. At that time the racer was stored in the upstairs portion of the dealership, which was accessed by a ramp which was raised and lowered by means of a flathead V-8 engine and cables.
In the early 1960’s Russell got it down and restored it to running condition so it could appear in the Greenfield Triennial Homecoming Parade. The racer made many more appearances in the homecoming parade over the years. The Model T Racer remained in the Morrow family until 2017.
